Some useful information about Cafe Indie

Cafe

Of course! Mum’s should welcome to breastfeed here and we fully support anyone wishing to do so. If any other customers have a problem with it, they’re the ones in the wrong!

Yes, the general cafe areas (including the gig venue) are accessible via a stairlift that has a 200kg limit. Please see the accessibility section for more info.

Yes, we have a wide range available on the general menu and then we do a special menu every week for Vegan Thursdays.

Sadly not, unless they’re little puppies that are too cute to say no to.

If you’re aged 16-25 simply ask at the counter and we’ll go through the process with you. Or email david@cafeindiependent.org.uk

Generally 11am-3pm but if you’re famished outside of these times do ask, we’ll always accommodate if we can.

We can provide information on all our food and staff will happily help to ensure your needs are met.

Yes, and it’s free!

We are fully licensed but keep the focus on being a cafe during the daytime so alcohol is available from 5pm weekdays and from 12pm on a Saturday

Co-op

It means that any profits we do make are reinvested in good causes. Either further developing the project or maybe one day when we make enough, supporting other local good causes.

It’s a wonderful thing – please get in touch to find out more about our Co-Operative status and how you can be involved.

Events

It depends upon the event – always best to reserve a ticket to be sure of entry

Often we do but it does depend upon the promoter. Always best to check the event page – we want you to save on booking fees!

No alcohol can leave the premises. We operate a challenge 25 ID policy, so if you’re blessed with youthful looks bring your ID

We encourage young people to attend live music – it’s important! However each event applies it’s own rules. Where possible we allow those aged 14 or above to attend. However, those aged 14 – 15 must bring a responsible adult who will be with them at all times and they must leave by 11pm. Those aged 16-17 don’t require an adult but must bring ID to prove their age and also leave by 11pm.

We do have a small selection of beers on draught.

It depends upon the gig! Generally the area is standing, although for intimate, beautiful gigs we tend to put seating out – and advertise the fact. If you require seating at one of our standing gigs please let a member of staff know and we’ll accommodate you as best we can.

Our closing time varies from event to event, checking the event page is the best way to gauge when we’ll be closing after a particular event. Generally there will always be time for a drink after the gig finishes though.

No, we cover all genres – Indie is about independence, not being a massive corporation, about sub-culture, being a challenging,
critical voice and doing things for the right reasons – not just to make money.
