Would you look at that Line Up!

On May 18th The Lads in Weirdwolf are putting on an Alldayer
Ten bands for ten pounds!

Celebrating independent bands from the Lincs and Yorks region.
From Grunge, Punk and Alt-Rock to Indie Rock and Power Pop, this line up is one you do not want to miss.

We’re very excited about all ten of these bands playing on one bill and everyone else should be too.

BUNGALOW

5 piece Indie-Dream pop from Scunthorpe.

Hometown heroes Bungalow have released 4 singles so far to much acclaim, and have had support from Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Spotify Editorial and yes even Simon LeBon from Duran Duran! They will be bringing their shimmery ear worms to Cafe Indie for a triumphant headline slot.

TIGER ISLAND

Garagey punk rock from Leeds/Wakefield.

Tiger island’s infectious melodies and incendiary guitars bring to mind bands like Hot Snakes, Night Marchers and a touch of  Sleater Kinney. But what they mainly sound like is Tiger Island. Rock n’ roll that you need in your life.

Their most recent E.P ‘Looka Looka Looka’ is chock full of absolute top drawer bangers that you definitely want to experience live.

SOAPER

Grungy alt/punk rock from Sleaford.

High energy 2 piece Soaper have been relentlessly gigging since forming from the embers of Bear Makes Ninja in 2021. They released two cracking singles in 2023, both absolute sledgehammers of melody and fuzz. Taking a nostalgic sound and giving it their own distinctive mathy twist, Soaper are a live force to be reckoned with.

WEIRDWOLF

Alt-rock/grungy indie rock from Scunthorpe.

Comprising  4 veterans of various bands from the Scunthorpe scene, WeirdWolf combine their influences to make a diverse alt-rock sound. Think big riffs, trippy soundscapes, punky energy and a melodic sensibility holding it all together. Debut album ‘Mild Fantasy Peril’ was released in November 2023 and is filled with 11 slabs of 90s influenced rock n’ roll concrete. Expect to hear some of those plus some new songs when they take to the stage at Cafe Indie.

STUDENT SLASHER FILM

Non Midwest ‘Midwest Emo’ from Leeds

Despite only forming in 2022, Student Slasher Film are taking Leeds by storm. Already with an impressive amount of high profile support slots under their belt, and a songwriting talent that puts many veteran bands to shame, Student Slasher Film are a band that you’ll want to catch at Indie now, so you can brag about it later.

THE LAST HEARTS

Grungy punk rock from Scunthorpe.

The Last Hearts are stalwarts of the Scunthorpe scene. Think Gaslight Anthem meets Dinosaur Junior with a little bit of post-hardcore thrown in for good measure. After a bit of a break, 2 absolute rippers of new singles were released last year, showing that the Last Hearts are back with a vengeance. Check them out in their natural habitat on the Cafe Indie stage.

BEDSIT

Punk/Grunge/Shoegaze from Hull

Bedsit’s urgent, visceral brand of grunge smacks you in the face with it’s firey punk intensity, whilst being delivered with a hefty dose of melody. Constantly gigging and with a live show that leaves everything on the stage, Bedsit are a band not to be missed. Latest single ‘F.I.D.O’ received some excellent reviews from some high profile outlets, with appetites fully whetted for whatever they have to come next!

MIRA DISCONNECT

Alt-Rock/Post-Hardcore from Hull/Scunthorpe

Comprising ex members of various Yorkshire and Lincolnshire bands, Mira Disconnect were started as a solo project by Tom Hewson (Of Allies) originally, before developing into a full band. With the excellent ‘Friends Making Friends’ E.P released at the end of 2023 and a 2nd E.P just recorded, Mira Disconnect are going from strength to strength.

HUNTER-GATHERER

“Full Fat Alt Rock” from Pickering, North Yorkshire

Hunter-Gatherer describe their music as “Heavy Riffs, Groovy Beats and Catchy Choruses” and they are not wrong. 2023 saw 2 new singles released which earned them plenty of attention from numerous radio station including BBC Introducing. The band gigged constantly over 2023 and you’ll be sure to want to see them add Cafe Indie to their live C.V!

HEAD CLOUD

Grunge-gaze from Grantham

Head Cloud will certainly clear the cobwebs away when they open the show at Indie! The Grantham based 4 piece combine wall of sound shoegaze elements in their grungy rock with a clear attention to melody. Their most recent single ‘Slipping’, released last year, is a perfect example of what these guys can do. Make sure you are there for their set!
